Shohei Ohtani
In MLB The Show 25, just three players got the coveted 99 overall rating, with Shohei Ohtani unsurprisingly being one of the three. Despite not pitching last year, the defending NL MVP put up insane numbers in his first season with the Dodgers, batting .310 with 54 Home Runs and 130 RBIs. Ohtani helped led the Dodgers to the 2024 World Series championship and the Dodgers are the clear favorite to go back to back this season, in large part to Ohtani’s greatness.
Aaron Judge
While Shohei Ohtani was the NL MVP and the presumed best player in baseball, Aaron Judge was the AL MVP respectively and also the home run king of all of baseball in 2024. Judge hit an almost unbelievable 58 home runs in 2024, cruising to the AL MVP award for the AL-champion New York Yankees, who only lost to the World Series-champion Dodgers. If you hit 58 home runs, you deserve to be a 99 overall, and the king of the Yankees will look to build upon that 58-home run mark in 2025.
