How the Celtics Will Win the Finals

The Celtics are back in the NBA Finals once again, and they’re looking to complete their quest of winning their first NBA Finals since 2008 Boston has been criticized heavily for their easy path to the NBA Finals, and to be fair, it was the easiest in recent memory. Boston had to go up against a Miami Heat team without Jimmy Butler, a Cleveland Cavaliers team without Jarrett Allen for the whole series, and Donovan Mitchell for half of it. And an Indiana Pacers team who was without Tyrese Haliburton for half of the series as well. While all of this is true and valid criticism, there’s a reason why the Celtics had by far the best record in the NBA this season at 64-18. This is a team that truly processes 5 all-star talents when healthy Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis. If the Celtics win their first NBA finals since 2008, they’ll do so due to the sheer talent and depth of this roster. While the Mavericks have the best player in the series in Luka Doncic, and another superstar in Kyrie Irving, the difference between the Celtics depth and the Mavericks depth is massive. The Celtics can win a game in which Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown play poorly, the Mavericks will have no chance to beat the Celtics if Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic play poorly.

How the Mavericks Will Win the Finals

Everyone was ready to give Anthony Edwards his flowers after his amazing series against the defending champion Nuggets, and for good reason. The Nuggets were massive favorites to make it to the finals in the Western Conference, and Anthony Edwards played like the face of the league on both sides of the floor to pull off the upset. However, while we were all praising Anthony Edwards, some of us may have forgotten just how special Luka Doncic is. The Mavericks quickly dispatched the Minnesota Timberwolves in 5 games to make the NBA finals as underdogs and make no mistake, the Dallas Mavericks will be heavy underdogs again in the NBA Finals vs the Boston Celtics. It’s clear that the Celtics have the more talented roster, but Maverick's path to winning is also clear. The Mavericks have two things, the best player in the series (and maybe the world,) in Luka Doncic, and maybe the best closer in the NBA currently, in Kyrie Irving. If the game is close down the stretch, the Mavericks will have to ride their two shotmakers to close it out, as they have throughout the playoffs.
