All the New Features of EA Sports Madden 25

This new feature is the biggest addition to Madden in years

The brand new, “Switch Stick,” feature is a true gamechanger and is almost guaranteed to dictate the meta of Madden as we know it. This feature allows users to click on defenders by toggling onto them, a massive change in how the defense will be played. For example, if you want to take away the flat route, you can simply toggle onto the defender and do it manually. Or even if you keep getting bombed by a route and don’t know the adjustment to stop it, you can just toggle onto the defender in the deep blue zone and take it away manually. The switch stick feature is one that is certain to change Madden as we know it.

Pursuit Angles Fixed

The pursuit angles of past Madden’s, especially Madden 24, were under heavy criticism for not working as intended. Oftentimes, the defender would simply get blown away by a ball carrier with a similar speed rating despite having a good angle on the ball carrier, To fix this, EA said, “Oftentimes in the NFL you’ll see a player overrun a play or miss a tackle, but immediately take steps to get back in action. In Madden NFL 25, defenders can make the same hard cuts as ball carriers to quickly change direction and renew their pursuit. Speedy defensive ends and other high-agility defenders are even more valuable, as they can recover on plays and chase down runners on the backside.” If this works as intended, Madden 25 may be the most defensive-based Madden we’ve seen in years with the addition of the switch stick as well!

The Hit Stick has been Revamped and Reloaded

A staple of Madden for over 2 decades has been the hit stick. There is almost nothing as satisfying of laying out your opponent with a perfect hitstick, and often getting rewarded with a fumble as a result. Unfortunately, Madden 24 was criticized for the “nerfing,” of the hitstick, and for good reason. To put it simply, the hitstick was just not an effective feature in Madden 24, and it was often almost useless to go for “hitsticks,” as a result. To celebrate 20 years of the hit stick being in Madden, EA has pledged that Madden 25 will have a revamped hit stick feature. EA has revamped it to include things such as angle of impact, stick skill, and accuracy within a more timing-based mechanic than ever before. If this works as intended, it will be a massive fix to a beloved staple of Madden.
