24/25 Season Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
After coming off a top 5 fantasy football season in 2022, Smith regressed to just inside the top 20 last season. While many critics point to regression after an over-archiving 2022, the numbers paint a different picture. The Seahawks ran dead last in total plays called last season. Their offense was actually rather efficient, ranking 12th in average yards per play. New offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and head coach Mike Macdonald will give the Seahawks offense a new, more pass-heavy approach away from the run-first approach of Pete Carroll. The weapons are there between Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and JSN. The numbers paint a picture that Geno Smith’s 2024 will be closer to his 2022 top 3 season than his 2023 flop, and he’ll be available in your fantasy drafts in the later rounds.
Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings
Drafted with the 3rd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Sam Darnold was viewed as the savior of a New York Jets franchise starved for their franchise quarterback. Things didn't quite turn out that way, and after three disastrous seasons with the Jets and two with Carolina that didn’t go much better, it was widely considered that Darnold would never be a starter in the NFL again. After one season backing up Brock Purdy on the 49ers, Darnold was signed by the Minnesota Vikings who drafted National Champion J.J McCarthy in the first round of this year's draft. McCarthy and Darnold were supposed to compete to be the Vikings starting quarterback for this upcoming season, with McCarthy having the inside track to get the starting job. Unfortunately, McCarthy tore his meniscus during practice, leaving Darnold as the de facto starting QB for this upcoming season. Darnold’s stats are mediocre, to say the least, with a lifetime 59.7 completion percentage during his career. However, he’s never been the starting QB of a team with half of the talent that this Vikings offense has. Darnold will generate yards throwing to the likes of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson, and provides enough rushing value for fantasy upside as well. Darnold is a great option for 2 QB leagues and provides enough upside for a plug and play option as well.
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
The 2nd pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jayden Daniels has even more fantasy upside than the number 1 pick, Caleb Williams. Jayden Daniels has the potential to be a dual-threat quarterback similar to Lamar Jackson in terms of rushing upside. While there are legitimate concerns about the team that he’s on and in-game struggles. It’s important to note that real-life success and fantasy success are two vastly different things. Quarterback rushing yards are imperative to success, as their rushing yards are worth three times their passing yards. While I recommend drafting a solid backup quarterback for Jayden Daniels, as his slight frame combined with his rushing volume does pose some injury risk, the upside is far too high to ignore.
