Michael Penix Went Where?

The shocker of this year's NFL Draft without question, was the Atlanta Falcons selecting quarterback Michael Penix Jr with the 8th pick in the NFL Draft. Absolutely no one saw this coming, as the Falcons signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins to a massive 4 year 180 million dollar contract with a whopping 100 million dollars guaranteed. So why did the Falcons and coach Raheem Morris draft a quarterback with their top 10 pick in the draft? Coach Morris stressed not only the short term desire to win now with Cousins, but a long term outlook as well with Penix stating, “We won't have the ability to be picking this high again with the guy that we got. And these guys go off the board pretty quickly and we thought it would be important for us to address our future quarterback right now, where we're picking this low in these moments and to be able to move forward." Morris views it as a “good problem to have”, if Penix doesn’t play in the first four years of his career because it would mean Cousins would be doing so well. However, spending a top 10 that could have been used on an immediate impact player on a quarterback after you just signed a quarterback for 180 million dollars has been widely criticized to say the least. Only time will tell if this was a 4D chess move by the Falcons, or one that will cost people their jobs.

Detroit Sets Draft Day Attendance Record

Coming off the best Lions season in over a decade, the city of Detroit showed out for the NFL Draft, smashing the day 1 NFL Draft attendance record with an estimated number over 275,000 people there for day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Detroit has quickly become one of the hubs for football, and the city of Detroit is hosting the 2028 Super Bowl as a result! The Lions used their 24th pick of the NFL draft on Alabama All-American cornerback Terrion Arnold, who addressed the electric Detroit crowd with the words, “I’m home,” in a moment he and hopefully Lion nation, depending on how the highly touted cornerbacks career pans out, will truly never forget.

Caleb Williams Is Already Breaking Records

As expected, the Chicago Bears took former USC quarterback Caleb Willaims with the number 1 pick in the draft, and the generational prospect has already broken a record. Caleb Williams set the record for draft night apparel sales in any sport, which former Iowa basketball superstar Caitlin Clark set just 10 days prior during the WNBA draft. The hype for Caleb is abundant, the generational prospect has received Patrick Mahomes comparisons and the expectations to bring Chicago to the promised land are real. At the least, the Bears will finally be a good team to use in Madden next year, as their offense features receivers DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and former University of Washington receiver Rome Odunze whom the Bears drafted 9th overall.

The Chiefs Just Drafted The Fastest Player in NFL history

In true Kansas City Chiefs fashion, they traded with the Buffalo Bills for the 28th pick in the NFL draft to former Texas receiver Xavier Worthy, who made waves at the NFL Combine by running a record 4.21 second 40-yard dash. The defending champion Chiefs not only got an extremely dynamic vertical threat for superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes to utilize, but they also just got a game breaking player for the next Madden, as Worthy is a sure bet to have gamebreaking speed given his record setting 40-yard dash time. You’ll be able to play with Xavier Worthy and the Kansas City Chiefs on Players’ Lounge, the number 1 place to play Madden and 2K for money!
